Uncontested Probate application fees:

An application fee to apply for probate depends on the value of the estate. For example: if the value of the estate is £5,000 or over, the application fee is £215. However, there are some exemptions for lower earning applicant which the conducting solicitor will need to assess and advice. There’s no fee for the estate which value is under £5,000.

Probate Solicitor’s fees:

Hubers Law has adopted the recommended fees set out by the Law Society in England & Wales which is 0.75% of the value of the residence and 1.5% for the gross value of the estate less the residence (decreasing for larger estates).

Probate Tax liabilities:

Important point is that an estate has to pay off any inheritance tax due to the HMRC before applying for grant of probate. Inheritance tax will apply to estates over and above the nil rate band of £325,000. There are other relief which may be applicable on the estate to calculate the tax liabilities which the conducting solicitor will need to assess and advice.
